The state is looking for citizen scientists to take part in its annual survey of wild turkeys.

The population peaked in the late 1990s and early 2000s but has dropped below average in the last decade.

The Wild Turkey Sighting Survey helps the Department of Environmental Conservation gauge reproductive success and predict future populations and harvest opportunities. A form can be found on the agency's website.
