U.S. Congressmember John Katko of Syracuse is celebrating the House passing the CHIPS Plus Act to boost semiconductor production in the U.S. and in Central New York.
Katko co-sponsored the legislation and said in a statement that its passage sends a clear message that the best days of American manufacturing are ahead. He said the package has a strong potential to provide funding and tax incentives that could jump start transformational investment locally.
Centerstate CEO President Rob Simpson said in a statement the organization applauds Katko and other members of the U.S. House for their support.
Meanwhile, Katko expressed his disappointment that Congressional Democrats are now taking up a separate, partisan reconciliation bill to raise taxes immediately following the successes of the CHIPS Act.
