State Attorney General Letitia James has joined with a coalition of 50 attorneys general to create a bipartisan Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force in an effort to stop foreign, illegal robocalls getting through to the U.S.

The task force is focusing its efforts on telecommunications companies who are allowing those calls to consumers’ phones.

In a release from the coalition, phone scammers stole $29.8 billion in 2021.

A reminder to never pay callers through gift cards and to hang up if you detect fraudulent activity and don’t provide requests for personal information.
