Syracuse is receiving $10 million from the state for multiple projects intended to improve Southside neighborhoods.

A dozen projects in the works are aimed at enhancing the connection and walkability between downtown Syracuse and the Southside neighborhoods. Funds will also go toward expanding business and housing opportunities and better community services.

Over $1.1 million will be used to improve the Southwest Community Center, which is heavily used by residents.

Additionally, $1 million will be used to construct a new facility for the West Onondaga Street Rescue Mission, which will include a warehouse, along with commercial and office spaces.
