The U.S. House's struggle to select the next speaker has delayed Central New York's 22nd Congressional District representative from assuming office.

Republican Brandon Williams is still waiting to be sworn in as lawmakers continue to go back and forth about getting enough support to induct GOP Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy as House speaker.

The representatives have voted at least five times without McCarthy earning enough votes to win.
