Syracuse’s Hancock International Airport has been awarded $2.5 million to centralize security and communications operations into one facility.

The award will also help the airport strengthen its coordination between security, airfield operations and maintenance staff, and local law enforcement. The funding is a portion of $11 million in funds secured by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, whovisited the airport on Wednesday to make the announcement.
