U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney of Central New York has been selected to serve on the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee.

Tenney is currently serving her second term after previously representing New York's 22nd Congressional District from 2017 to 2019.

Committee Chair Jason Smith said in a release that being a longtime small-business owner makes Tenney qualified to serve on the committee. Smith said the committee plans to fight for a tax code that would advance the interests of American workers and entrepreneurs.

Tenney said the committee will reclaim lost manufacturing jobs in the United States. She also said securing domestic supply chains, fighting for small businesses and working families with a fairer, simpler tax code are priorities.

Additionally, Tenney said that Republicans would protect Social Security and Medicare.
