A new contract between the city of Syracuse and the union representing the city's officers will alter the schedule for those on patrol.

Syracuse Common Councilors on Monday approved an agreement with the Syracuse Police Benevolent Association that establishes a four day work week, with officers working 10 hours a day. Under this new contract, officers will work four days and have three off, then work four days and have four more off. This pattern will then repeat for the officers under this schedule.

The city will be able to revert back to a five-day, eight hours a day work week if they determine this schedule isn’t effective for their needs.

When it comes to wages, officers will receive a 1.75% salary increase every six months.

The contract is in effect January through December 2027.
