The Onondaga County Cancer Services Program is now offeringfree colorectal cancer screenings for people aged 45 and older who don’t have health coverage.

Colorectal cancer is the cause of death of close to 52,000 people every year. 90% of new cases occur in adults aged 45 and older, which is when the American Cancer Society recommends starting to get checked regularly.

Experts say the third most commonly diagnosed cancer is treatable if detected early enough through regular screenings and tests.
