A Memorial Day shooting incident in the Bellevue Avenue area of Syracuse’s South Side has left one man dead and three other people wounded.

In a release, Syracuse police said a 44-year-old man rushed to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition on Monday night, with a gunshot wound to the chest, and has since died.

SPD spokesperson Lt. Matthew Malinowski said officers responded to a shooting-with-injuries call at the 400 block of Bellevue Avenue just before 10 pm Monday evening.

According to Malinowski, the three other victims all had non-life-threatening injuries and were privately transported to the hospital. They include a 34-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman who were taken to Upstate, and a 44-year-old man who was brought to Community Hospital.

SPD says an investigation into the incident is ongoing and asks that anyone with information call the Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
