Freshly grown produce, flowers and food vendors are a sampling of what you’ll find at the 52nd annual Downtown Syracuse Farmers Market in Clinton Square. It’s open every Tuesday throughout the summer through October 8th. The Downtown Committee’s Merike says some of this year’s offerings may surprise you.
“This year we have a couple of new vendors as well selling dog treats, we’ve got a craft beer operator, we’ve got La Bamba food tent here with tamales and so, lots of new delicious options for people.”
Treier says the market will also have plenty of familiar local growers who have gained a following over the years. She also says the summer season brings a lot of excitement because of all of the fresh produce available. One of the newer vendors is a husband and wife team from East Syracuse. Kyle Brown grows fresh vegetables.
“We've got radishes, salad mix, arugula, lettuce heads, bok choy, garlic scapes, you know, and we've got tomatoes coming, cucumbers, eggplant, a lot of different varieties of plants.”
The Farmers Market also features live music entertainment during lunch hours. The usual location is every Tuesday in Syracuse’s Clinton Square; however, this week it moves once to the One Lincoln Center parking lot from 8 AM to 2 PM.
