The current Republican Congressmember from Central New York says he believes the GOP Convention unified his party. Brandon Williams says his party has pulled together after the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. As for Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, Williams says he has been impressed with him ever since reading Vance’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy.”

“It was actually one of the books that motivated me to consider running for office because he speaks so clearly of those that are left behind. Here in Central New York, we’ve had an outflow of manufacturing over 60 years. Thankfully, that is getting reversed and I’m excited to be a part of that.”

Williams says Vance brings a personal life story of growing up in poverty. He also says he can relate to the men and women who felt left behind when they lost their jobs as industrial companies left Central New York. He blames failed NAFTA policies and others that are now getting reversed. Williams’ Democrat challenger for New York’s 22nd US Congressional seat is John Mannion.
