STAR refund checks heading to 3 million New Yorkers

Tax relief is on the way for millions of New Yorkers. Refund checks will begin arriving June 24, with deliveries continuing into the fall.

It’s that time of year again when roughly 3 million New Yorkers receive some tax relief from the state.

Checks for the STAR program will begin mailing next week. In Central New York, 176,000 residents with incomes below $500,000 will receive between $350 and $600. Most seniors with incomes under $107,000 will get checks ranging from $700 to $1,500.

Some taxpayers have already received their benefits as a tax exemption. In total, New York is returning $2.2 billion in taxes this year. The delivery schedule for your area can be found online.
