Thousands of college students in Central New York are planning what to pack for their first semester away from home.
Along with the obvious dorm supplies, books, a bike or car, Triple A reminds parents and students to check that their insurance adequately covers all of those belongings.
In most cases, agents said they will need a separate renter’s policy whether living in a dorm or apartment. And, they advised checking on coverage limits and student rates, which can change while living away from home.
Lastly, students are urged to leave behind what they can’t afford to lose - such as jewelry, collectibles, or other irreplaceable items.
