Nearly every member of the Central New York SPCA board of directors said they are resigning after employees walked out in protest on Tuesday.

Multiple media outlets report the workers called on board members to step down alleging animal neglect and unsafe conditions at the DeWitt shelter.

Board President Monica Williams said she will not resign and denies neglect claims. The State Department of Agriculture and Markets, which licenses and regulates shelters, said it plans to visit in the coming days.
