New York State United Teachers is pleased to see a commitment to education funding in the newly passed 2022-23 state budget.

President Andy Pallota said in a news release the budget delivers "historic resources for education and continues the promise to fully fund Foundation Aid."

Pallota also noted the spending plan includes retirement system reforms that will help draw more people toward the field.

"This gives us yet another tool for attracting the next generation of teachers, School-Related Professionals and public employees into state and local service," Pallota said.

He also celebrated the extra dollars for mental health staff in schools, bias training and continued professional learning for teachers.
