New Medical Provider opens in Liverpool

Caring Family Health Nurse Practitioners is a new medical provider that recently opened in Liverpool. The service is run by husband-and-wife team of Bikash and Kumari Regmi, who are both nurse practitioners.

The new practice is the realization of a dream that began when Bikash and his wife were children in a refugee camp in Nepal. He said he always wanted to help others.

“When I was a kid, I always wished I could do something but I didn’t have that power to do that. As soon as I came to U.S. in 2009, I started looking for education because from that experience of seeing the need for primary care, I always wanted to … serve the people who are very sick,” said Bikash.

The couple studied medicine at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, and they are now adjunct instructors at the institute.

Bikash said their practice accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. As nurse practitioners, they provide comprehensive primary care.

“If it’s a healthy adult male, they might just need to come once a year for the physical. Or if someone has a chronic (illness), they need to come and see us frequently. And if they need a medication refill, we will do that. We will do the medication management. If they need any labs, if they need any diagnostic tests, we will do that,” said Bikash.

Bikash said he hopes their office will alleviate some of the shortage of primary care providers in the Syracuse area. He said it’s become an issue where he has heard that many people wait three to six months to see a doctor.

The couple aims to serve Liverpool, and the greater Syracuse Area with their new practice. They are currently accepting patients.
