If you see any wild turkeys while you’re out and about — the State wants to know about it. Every August, the Department of Environmental Conservation asks New Yorkers to help survey the wild turkey population.

The agency wants to know where you spotted the birds and how many — as well as their sex and estimated age.

Sightings can be reported on the DEC's website. Participation in the survey doubled two years ago, after the agency moved it online.

Results from 2022 are published for review.
