The New York State Fair has seen over 500,000 visitors so far this season, with Stewart's Shops taking top honors for their milk products in the Dairy Products Competition on Thursday.
Byrne Dairy was another top producer, winning gold in Chocolate Ice Cream and the Open Class Ice Cream category with their Grasshopper Pie. They also received silver for their Vanilla Ice Cream.
Native Americans Day is being celebrated Friday with free admission and cultural performances. On Monday, the fair will honor workers with a Labor Day parade led by organized labor members from the Expo Center at 10:30 a.m.
An analysis of the top overall producers from the 2024 New York State Dairy Products Competition:
- Stewart's Shops emerged as a leading producer, winning gold in several key categories: Best Fluid Milk, Best Flavored Milk, Best Chocolate Milk, and Vanilla Ice Cream.
- HP Hood also demonstrated exceptional performance, securing gold in categories like Cottage Cheese, Nonfat Cottage Cheese, and Sour Cream. Additionally, they earned several silver and Award of Excellence recognitions across different dairy products, showing their broad capability in dairy processing.
- Byrne Dairy was another top producer, winning gold in Chocolate Ice Cream and the Open Class Ice Cream category with their Grasshopper Pie. They also received silver for their Vanilla Ice Cream.
- BelGioioso Cheese Inc stood out in the cheese categories, achieving gold in several categories, including Mozzarella, Ricotta, and Open Class Cheese. They consistently scored high, showcasing their expertise in cheese production.
- Great Lakes Cheese earned gold in both Aged Cheddar and Low Moisture Mozzarella categories, among others. Their strong performance in the cheddar and mozzarella categories highlights their specialization in these types of cheese.
- Churchtown Dairy was recognized as the Grand Champion for their Coperthwaite cheese, adding prestige to their accomplishments in the competition.
