Updated voter enrollment numbers from the Onondaga County Board of Elections show most new voters are choosing not to align with a political party. In fact, the 870 unaffiliated new voters account for more than half of the total, and outnumber all other parties combined.
As of October 1, there are more than 118,000 registered democrats in the county, nearly 84,000 republicans, and 93,000 unaffiliated voters on the rolls. In all, more than 315,000 Onondaga County voters are eligible to vote in the upcoming election.
The board of elections is accepting registration forms no later than October 26. Residents are encouraged to check their registration online before submitting a registration form.
