Over half of New Yorkers now registered as organ and tissue donors

New York has set an organ donation milestone. Governor Kathy Hochul says for the first time over half of the state’s population has registered to become organ and tissue donors.

That number was just 22% a decade ago.

The New York Health Department says one donor can save the lives of eight people while tissue donors can impact up to 75 people.

Last year organ donors saved the lives of 8-thousand New Yorkers. Register now online.
