Central New York will experience wetter-than-average conditions this winter. That’s the forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Its U.S. Winter Outlook for 2024-2025 indicates a developing La Niña in the Pacific, typically brings a more northerly storm track.

Central New York meteorologists predict above-normal temperatures and below-normal snowfall, with between 85 and 115 inches of snow forecasted.

The outlook suggests it won't be as warm as last winter, and more cold spells are in the works compared to the last seven years while we were under El Niño conditions.
