Contagious Christmas: Navigating Illness During the Holiday Season

During the holiday season, it’s important to know when you’re most contagious with illnesses like COVID-19, flu, RSV, and stomach viruses.

According to the CDC, people with COVID-19 are most contagious from one to two days before symptoms start and up to ten days after.

For the flu, individuals are most contagious in the first three days of their illness.

RSV can be spread for three to eight days after symptoms begin.

Stomach viruses, such as norovirus, can be contagious from the start of symptoms and for several days after recovery.

Experts recommend staying home when sick, practicing good hygiene, and getting vaccinated to protect others.
