New York State is rolling out several new laws in 2025

The scene is symbolic, with a central figure resembling Lady Justice holding scales balanced with symbols of healthcare and wages. Around her are smaller vignettes: a worker receiving a paycheck, a person taking sick leave for prenatal care, a child with pasteurized donor milk, a hotel with banned plastic shampoo bottles, and a high-rise building with an evacuation plan for people with disabilities. The style is monochromatic, textured, and evocative of traditional courtroom sketches, with a sense of legal authority and societal impact.

New York State is rolling out several new laws in 2025 impacting wages, healthcare, consumer protections, and more.

The minimum wage increases to $15.50 statewide, and workers now receive 20 hours of paid sick leave, specifically for prenatal care, alongside expanded Paid Family Leave benefits. Retaliation for sick time use is also prohibited.

Health insurance must cover prenatal vitamins, pasteurized donor milk for at-risk babies, insulin, and mental health claims for job-related stress.

There is also a ban against using a person’s image or voice without their consent.

There are new laws banning small plastic shampoo bottles in boutique hotels, and high-rise buildings must now have evacuation plans for people with disabilities.
