TSA intercepts record-tying 23 handguns at Upstate airports in 2024

The Transportation Security Administration says it intercepted a record tying 23 handguns at Upstate New York airport security checkpoints in 2024. TSA officers say 5 were found at Syracuse Hancock Airport.

The TSA reminds travelers that guns may be checked if they are unloaded and placed in a locked hard case…but passengers may not bring them on planes. Violators are subject to criminal or civil penalties.
