Central New York will receive $4 million in federal funding to develop a 57-mile walking and biking trail spanning Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga, and Oswego counties. The trail will connect rural villages and small towns with major transportation hubs and urban employment centers, becoming part of the 170-mile Central New York Peace Trail.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says the project aims to position the region as a premier bike touring destination, enhancing tourism and local connectivity. The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board is overseeing the initiative.
