New I-81 app gives drivers real-time traffic and project updates

The New York State Department of Transportation launched the free app to keep commuters informed about delays, closures, and project updates.

DOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez says the app also connects users with job opportunities and project information.

"If you want to avoid road delays or closures, tap the app. You're going to receive push notifications on traffic alerts and important project updates. You got questions for the 81 team. Tap the app. Maybe you're interested in a job, maybe you want to come to work on the project itself. Tap the app."

Construction is ongoing across multiple areas, with work expected to continue through at least 2028.
