Syracuse Housing Authority reaches deal for Eastwood Heights redevelopment

A major redevelopment project will preserve and expand affordable senior housing in Syracuse. The Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) has reached a tentative agreement with the city to move forward with a $26 million renovation at Eastwood Heights Apartments on Sunnycrest Road.

Originally built as a junior high school more than a century ago, the building was converted into senior housing in 1989. The planned renovations will upgrade all 49 existing units and add four more to the complex.

The agreement still requires approval from the SHA Board of Commissioners and the Syracuse Common Council before the project can proceed.
