The SAMMYS honors local musicians, educators, and industry figures at its Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Show.

The Syracuse Area Music Awards return this week to celebrate Central New York’s music community, recognizing standout artists, educators, and contributors to the industry.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set for Thursday, March 6, at Middle Ages Brewery, where honorees include rock band Alecstar, music producer Ron Keck, and Wilkesbury Brigade. Music educator Holly McCoy will be recognized for her contributions to local students, while industry veteran Matt Forger, known for his work with Michael Jackson, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The SAMMYS Award Show follows on Friday, March 7, at the Palace Theatre, hosted by returning MC Tim Fox. Local musicians, bands, and artists will be recognized for their 2024 recordings, with awards presented in 13 categories. The night also features the announcement of the Community Spirit Award and the Jack O Bocchino Spirit of the SAMMYS Award. This year, more than 112,000 votes were cast in the People’s Choice categories.

Attendees can expect live performances from Alecstar, A Kid Called Danger, The Action!, Tyjhier, and Vaporeyes.

Tickets for both events can be purchased at syracuseareamusic.com, with free online streaming available on the SAMMYS Facebook page, courtesy of Meier’s Creek Brewing Company.
