Red Flag Warning issued due to wildfire risk

The statewide burn ban remains in place until May 14, prohibiting open burning to reduce wildfire risks.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Central New York, citing low humidity and strong winds that increase the risk of wildfires. The warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. March 19.

Residents are urged to use caution with matches, cigarettes, and heavy machinery that could spark fires. Dry grass and brush could ignite quickly and spread rapidly under current conditions.
