Syracuse unemployment rate holds steady at 4.4%

The Syracuse area unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.4% in February, according to the New York State Department of Labor. Rochester also held steady at 4.4%, while the Utica-Rome area saw a slight increase to 4.8%.

Despite the steady rate, Syracuse’s workforce grew by nearly 4% compared to last year. The state’s overall seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped slightly to 4.3% in February.
