Syracuse continues to see some of the strongest job growth in the state. The New York Department of Labor says the area gained 5,300 private sector jobs last month compared to March of 2024. That translates to a 2.1% increase.

Job gains in Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester were much more modest. Private Education and Health Service jobs led job growth across the state.

The Department says the statewide unemployment was 4.2% in March.
