Heavy rains over the past 24 hours have caused severe flooding in parts of Central New York, leading to a state of emergency in the Village of Jordan. The flooding washed away a bridge near Mechanic Street and forced evacuations as water levels rose above five feet.

Cayuga County also experienced significant flooding, resulting in the closure of State Route 38-A from Dewitt Road to Sayles Corners Road. The National Weather Service has issued multiple flood watches and warnings for the region, with more rain expected through the end of the week.

Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roadways and exercise caution, especially after dark when flood dangers are harder to detect.
