American Legion Posts in Syracuse and Onondaga County will host a Flag Day ceremony to respectfully retire worn U.S. flags, continuing a long-standing tradition.

As you Spring clean the garage and toolshed, hold on to that worn out American flag you may no longer use. The American Legion Post 1468 on Academy Street in Syracuse’s Valley is taking flags at the legion hall on or before Flag Day June 14th.

Veterans there will respectfully retire each flag. If you live closer to another American Legion, any post accepts flags and will provide it a respectful retirement year-round.

This year, Valley Post 1468 will team up with Historic Syracuse Post 41 to host a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at Valley Post 1468, located at 110 Academy Street.
