Schumer and Gillibrand oppose GOP budget cuts to senior nutrition programs

New York’s U.S. Senators are urging Republicans to reconsider cuts to SNAP, home-delivered meals, and aging services, citing food insecurity among older adults.

New York’s US Senators are among those blasting Republicans for proposing budget cuts to programs they say will hurt older Americans.

Senators Chuck Schumur and Kirsten Gillibrand have written to republican colleagues asking them to reconsider cutting funding from various nutrition programs including SNAP benefits, home delivered meals programs, and dismantling the Administration for Community Living.

They say almost 14% of older New Yorkers experience food insecurity. Read the Senators' letter here.
