Syracuse students sign on for early college, career-track program

Nearly 250 Syracuse City School students made their career aspirations official when they signed up for a program putting them on a path toward high-demand careers.

Ninth and tenth graders took part in a signing ceremony June 3 at Onondaga Community College to enroll in the Pathways in Technology Early College High School, or P-TECH program.

Participants come from four SCSD high schools: Corcoran, Henninger, ITC, and the Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler.

The students have the chance to work simultaneously toward their diploma and associates degree, and ultimately a job in fields ranging from Electrical and Mechanical Technology to health sciences and computer information systems.

Degree programs are offered through OCC, SUNY Broome, and Mohawk Valley Community College.
