Urban Delights farm gets $100K boost for major upgrades

A $100,000 donation from M&T Bank will help transform Syracuse’s Urban Delights Community Learning Farm with new features and better access.

The Urban Delights Community Learning Farm on the city’s Southwest side is getting a major upgrade. M&T Bank has donated $100,000 to support a full redesign of the space, including a food forest, mushroom garden, new greenhouses, sheds, and raised garden beds that are ADA-accessible.

Operated by Jubilee Homes of Syracuse, the Urban Delights Community Learning Farm provides affordable, fresh produce to the city’s Southwest side. M&T Bank employees are scheduled to volunteer at the farm this week as part of the project’s launch.

Bob Beck, a veteran media professional, currently serves as a part-time editor/host at WAER Public Radio and an adjunct professor at Syracuse University. Beck retired as News Director at Wyoming Public Radio in 2022 after 34 years. During his time, Beck won 5 regional Edward R. Murrow awards and 5 Public Media Journalists Association awards for reporting. He also won 11 PMJA awards for the news and public affairs program Open Spaces. He was awarded the Wyoming School Bell award for education reporting and was part of two Emmy Award winning television productions. You can find him on X under the name @butterbob.
