New York residents are warned to be cautious when it comes to helping victims of the flooding in Texas. Attorney General Letitia James says people should make sure they are donating to trustworthy organizations and groups.

James says people need to be especially careful when donating through emails or social media. She says the website Disaster Philanthropy can help determine if an organization is legit.

James says anyone who is concerned about a funding request should contact the AG’s office.
