Second pedestrian dies after dump truck crash near Syracuse University

An intersection just north of Syracuse University remained closed for much of Thursday as law enforcement investigated a fatal crash involving a dump truck at the intersection of University Avenue and East Adams Street.

An intersection just north of Syracuse University remained closed for much of Thursday as law enforcement investigated a fatal crash involving a dump truck at the intersection of University Avenue and East Adams Street.

According to Syracuse Police, the crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a dump truck struck two pedestrians. A 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old man, who was initially hospitalized in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital, has since died from his injuries

The Syracuse Police Department is leading the investigation and confirmed that the driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and no charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon.
