The swimming area is back open following water quality testing by the county health department.

Swimmers wanting to cool off at Jamesville Beach Park can now return. It reopened Thursday after an algal bloom in the reservoir shut it down a week ago.

The Onondaga County Health Department closed the Jamesville Reservoir to protect swimmers from toxins generated by the bloom. On Monday, lab results showed the bloom had receded and microcystin levels had dropped to safe limits.

The beach is open for swimming Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the park is $7 per vehicle.

More information, including water quality testing results, is available at www.OnondagaCountyParks.com.
