Two events scheduled for Thursday, July 24 are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal.

In the Town of Van Buren, a community celebration is underway at Memphis Park until 7 p.m. The event features food carts, face painting, big trucks, and a fun run.

Meanwhile, in downtown Syracuse, a 90-minute guided cycling tour begins at 6 p.m. The five-mile ride highlights historic canal landmarks and ends with a beverage at Talking Cursive Brewing Company. Tickets are required and available online.
