While her approval and favorability ratings are up slightly, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s lead over a potential opponent has dropped.
The latest Siena Research Institute poll showed Hochul with a 14 point lead over Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik in the race for governor. That is down from a 23 point lead in June. However, the latest poll conducted the first week of August also showed 49 percent of those polled say Stefanik would be a bad choice for New York if elected, while 37 percent said she would be good as New York’s next governor.
In a press release, pollster Steven Greenberg wrote that Stefanik has room to grow with voters. Noting that 46 percent were not familiar with her.
