It’s that time of year when prospective college students across New York are being urged to apply for state financial aid for the next academic year. Applications are now open for the science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM incentive program, as well as the tuition assistance program, called TAP.

TAP is one of the most robust need-based financial aid programs in the nation, awarding about 800 million dollars in state aid each year. In addition, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA is also available, which opens the door to hundreds of millions in federal aid.
