Two people connected with Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler in Syracuse are receiving a special honor. The Syracuse City School District is naming the school’s athletic complex after Richard Smith, a longtime teacher, coach, and athletic director known for mentoring generations of students, teachers, and coaches.
The district is also renaming its athletic field the Chris Ingram Track and Athletic Field. Ingram was a four-year football and track star at the school. He later became a starting defensive back at Syracuse University for three years and played on the 1987 team that finished unbeaten with one tie.
The school will honor both men before and at halftime of PSLA Fowler’s football game Friday, October 10, 2025.
