State warns fans to watch for ticket scams amid federal case against Ticketmaster and Live Nation

The state’s consumer protection division is urging sports fans and concertgoers to be aware of event ticket scams. The warning comes after the Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint against Ticketmaster and Live Nation for allegedly engaging in illegal ticket resale tactics and deceiving artists and consumers about prices and ticket limits.

The state says high demand tickets sell out quickly, which opens the door for scammers to pose as sellers who steal fans’ money and time. Consumer watchdogs advise people to buy original and resold tickets only from official sources and to avoid fake tickets promoted on social media, online marketplaces, and fake websites.

More information is available on the Division of Consumer Protection website.
