If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to take a jog on an airport runway, you’ll have a chance in mid-September. The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority and the Air National Guard’s 174th attack wing have organized the inaugural running of the Runway 5K. The planned racecourse will take runners onto the airport airfield, including the main runway.

The attack wing’s MQ9 reaper drone will also be on site. Officials say part of the reason behind the event is to increase community engagement with the attack wing. The number of race entrants is capped at 500.
