WAER is projecting wins for three incumbents in Onondaga County with around 97% of the election day votes counted as of 11:15 p.m., according to the Onondaga County Board of Elections.

Ryan McMahon has beat Bill Kinne to take a second term as County Executive.

McMahon gave an election speech, detailing what his reelection means for the county.

"This mandate is not about me, it's about you. And it's a mandate for partnerships. It's a mandate to try to find common ground, but to never lead from behind. It's a mandate to change the psychology of a community, to believe that we are worthy of good things, to believe that we can compete not just in this country, but throughout North America and throughout the world, that we are good enough to compete with communities that are larger than us because we have competed and we have won," McMahon said.

Update 8:41 p.m.: Looking ahead at what to expect

Voters in Onondaga County are expecting to see less competition for seats than recent years.

Those four seats are in the 6th district, 7th district, 10th district, and 15th district. 11 of the 17 seats are currently held by the Republican party. Originally, there were five seats up for grabs, but as syracuse.com reported, Democrat Sunny Aslam, who was running, moved out of district. Aslam did not campaign, but is listed on the ballot this year.

The Syracuse City Common Council will also see minimal competition. Of the five districts on the ballot, only the 3rd and 4th districts have contested seats.

The Syracuse City Court Judge and City Auditor ballots are also bare, with Democrat Mary Anne Doherty and Democrat Alexander Marion being the sole candidates, respectively.
