Voters in the 127th assembly district are choosing whether to send Democrat Al Stirpe back to Albany for a ninth non-consecutive term, or give his Republican challenger Tim Kelly a chance. The district covers the towns of Clay, Cicero, and Manlius in Onondaga County, and Cazenovia in Madison County. In our Election Connection series, WAER’s Scott Willis caught up with both candidates.

In the public interest, WAER offered each candidate the chance to state their campaign platforms uninterrupted in less than a minute, including who they are, why they're running, their priorities, and how they're financing their campaign. We then asked several follow up questions, all of which can be heard by clicking the listen bubble above.

Scott Willis covers politics, local government, transportation, and arts and culture for WAER. He came to Syracuse from Detroit in 2001, where he began his career in radio as an intern and freelance reporter. Scott is honored and privileged to bring the day’s news and in-depth feature reporting to WAER’s dedicated and generous listeners.
