We continue our Election Connection series with a look at two familiar names on the ballot for the wide-open 50th senate district seat. Democrat Chris Ryan brings a combined more than two decades of experience from the Onondaga County Legislature the Town of Geddes. Republican Nick Paro’s background is at the town level as Salina councilor and supervisor. The seat is being vacated by Sen. John Mannion, who's running for Congress.

The 50th senate district covers Camillus, Geddes, Salina, Clay, Cicero, Dewitt, and Manlius in Onondaga County, and the southern third of Oswego County.

In the public interest, WAER offered each candidate the chance to state their campaign platforms uninterrupted in less than a minute, including who they are, why they're running, their priorities, and how they're financing their campaign. We then asked several follow up questions, all of which can be heard by clicking the listen bubble above.
