WAER’s Election Connection series continues with a look at the candidates seeking to represent the 48th senate district. Political newcomer Republican Caleb Slater won a primary and is hoping to unseat Democrat Rachel May as she pursues a fourth term.

The district includes the city of Syracuse, most of southern and western Onondaga County, and all of Cayuga County.

In the public interest, WAER offered each candidate the chance to state their campaign platforms uninterrupted in less than a minute, including who they are, why they're running, their priorities, and how they're financing their campaign. We then asked several follow up questions, all of which can be heard by clicking the listen bubble above.
